Michael Santonocito has more than twelve years of experience in the field of patent law, including experience as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and as an attorney in private practice, focused on patent procurement and client counseling.

Michael’s background in physics has allowed him to develop expertise in a wide range of technologies, with a particular focus on electro-optics including image sensing, image projection and display, and photovoltaics. Michael’s experience also includes prosecuting patent applications related to nuclear, plasma, and quantum physics technologies. He provides counsel to clients of all sizes in a variety of technologies; example representations include  a nanotechnology startup and a multination corporation focused on particle accelerators.

Prior to joining Jones Robb, Michael worked as a patent attorney for a full-service law firm in the Midwest and as a patent attorney for a small patent boutique in Washington, DC. Prior to his career as a practicing attorney, Michael was a Patent Examiner in the optics group at the USPTO.
